After surviving a significant workplace arc flash injury that could have taken his life, 28-
year Master Electrician and renown safety compliance professional Jason Brozen has joined
forces with Tyndale Company as Lead Corporate Safety and Technical Trainer to share his
perspective and experience with workers across North America in hopes of preventing similar
accidents.
\u201cWe are thrilled to have Jason onboard and excited about the lifesaving impact we can
make together,\u201d said Scott Margolin, industry subject matter expert and Vice President of
Technical & Corporate Strategy at Tyndale. A CESCP and NFPA 70E and 70B expert, \u201cJason\u2019s
expert technical knowledge and powerful experience as a burn survivor lend him a unique ability
to reach the workers we protect.\u201d
Fourteen years into his career as a Master Electrician, Brozen was installing a breaker in
a 120\/208 2,500-amp piece of gear at a hotel when he found himself in the middle of an arc
flash. He knew that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was required, but he and his employer
had become complacent about PPE and safety. When the incident happened, he was working
energized and wearing flammable non-protective workwear.
He endured life-threatening burn injuries requiring months of intensive therapy and time
off from work, plus an estimated $1.2 million in total costs \u2013 and emotional wounds that can\u2019t be
measured. The accident permanently changed his life, but has the power to save others.
Now, he\u2019s joining forces with Tyndale \u2013 one of the market\u2019s largest suppliers of arc-rated
and flame resistant (AR\/FR) clothing, outfitting more than 400,000 workers across 90%+ of the
investor-owned electric utilities and 50+ Fortune 500 companies in the USA (and now serving
Canada) \u2013 to provide expert and meaningful training that improves worker safety. In his role,
Brozen delivers NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B education, speaks to workers about his experience as
an arc flash survivor and the importance of PPE, and assists in creating informational resources
that drive worker safety while delivering value to Tyndale customers.
