Frequently included in \u201cBest Places to Work\u201d lists, the firm appreciated the unique role that an intentionally designed space can play in helping to attract and retain talent.<\/p>\n<p>For its Chicago office, the company looked to Vocon to conceive a new interior design that would unify four floors. As the project developed, iLight Plexineon LED fixtures played a key role in bringing a \u201ccool factor\u201d into the spaces.<\/p>\n<p>The Design Challenge: Inspired by the look of iconic neon signs in the Windy City, the design team from Vocon\u2019s New York office proposed creating neon-like custom interior signs that would include playful nods to various Chicago icons. With its ability to bend and form curves, Plexineon proved to be the perfect product to replicate the intricate designs the team had in mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve never used it before,\u201d says Sara Cruz Lass, Associate Design Director at Vocon. \u201cWhile researching, we came across Plexineon. Once we saw the samples, we knew it would help us accomplish what we were aiming to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In one instance, the design team wanted to recreate part of the Chicago skyline, and mount the sign on a brick-veneer wall. \u201cIt was a fun way to bring in some Chicago flair on a three-dimensional texture that, itself, looks like so many buildings you see in Chicago,\u201d Cruz Lass says.<\/p>\n<p>Another sign recreated the client\u2019s logo and was intended to hang on a laquer panel. Most challenging of all was a world map to be mounted on wood. Outlining all seven continents, the sign had a high-level of detail, so the Vocon team sent CAD outlines to iLight \u2014 and held their breath hoping everything would turn out as they envisioned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were worried about how it would come in, but there were no mistakes. The signs were so easy to install and seamless, and they looked beautiful. The whole process went very smoothly.\u201d\u00a0 &#8211; Sara Cruz Lass, Senior Project Designer, Vocon<\/p>\n<p>The iLight Advantage: Cruz Lass says the final result was \u201cextremely successful. We were worried about how it would come in, but there were no mistakes. The signs were so easy to install and seamless, and they look beautiful. The whole process went very smoothly.\u201d She adds that the client was very pleased, and she hopes to use Plexineon again for future applications. \u201cI\u2019ll definitely use it again.
