PHOENIX, AZ \u2013 Service Wire employees took to the streets of Phoenix during Graffiti Free Awareness Month to lend a hand in their local community. The team volunteered in the Maryvale area only a few blocks away from the company\u2019s plant location.<\/p>\n

Nick Arena, Service Wire\u2019s Production Scheduler, coordinated the cleanup efforts after seeing a call for volunteers in the City of Phoenix newsletter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to organize a volunteer effort to give back to the community,\u201d Arena said. \u201cThe City\u2019s need for volunteers presented a great opportunity to make an impact in the immediate community where Service Wire operates. That was important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the cleanup, members of the neighborhood came out to thank the group for helping their community. Phoenix Police Officer, Brandon McCombs said the Service Wire crew was the fastest and most efficient group that he had ever seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cVolunteering in your community is a form of expressing gratitude for what you have in life,\u201d Arena explained. \u201cWhen you get to a point in life where you realize that you haven\u2019t done it all by yourself, you start to think about helping others. It\u2019s amazing how one or two hours of your time can impact a community.\u201d<\/p>\n

For community members interested in getting involved, Arena said the City of Phoenix has volunteer opportunities monthly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is some effort in organizing an event\u2026rounding up volunteers, coordinating with the partner organization, and, in our case, working with law enforcement to ensure a safe work environment, but trust me, the payoff is huge.\u201d<\/p>\n

The City of Phoenix has promoted Graffiti Free Awareness Month each February since 2015. The \u201cGraffiti Free Phoenix\u201d program provides paint supplies for community members who want to get involved in cleanup events.<\/p>\n
