ROSSLYN, VA \u2014 The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) commends the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for seizing wall chargers that were marked with counterfeit Underwriter\u2019s Laboratories (UL) markings.<\/p>\n

\u201cCounterfeiting of electrical products is a costly and dangerous crime that affects everyone, and NEMA commends the CBP for their vigilant work ensuring that imports do not pose any threat to our citizens,” says NEMA President and CEO Kevin Cosgriff.<\/p>\n

\u201cCounterfeiting has an immense impact on the electrical industry in ways not experienced in other industries. The major distinguishing factor is that counterfeit electrical products that fail to perform properly can cause significant public health and safety issues,\u201d Cosgriff adds.<\/p>\n

NEMA and the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) urge that purchased electrical products be properly tested and certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory and are bought from reputable distributors. Trustworthy electrical products are tested and certified to nationally recognized product safety Standards and have certification marks that protect everyone in the marketplace.<\/p>\n
